Hmm, I lament the death of John Chau. I believe it was a tragedy that could have been avoided, though. Is God not sovereign? Can He not save these people in His own way? (e.g. Jesus could let them in the back door to Heaven and not violate Scripture (“I am the Way, the Truth and the Life” John 14:6).
To all who are thinking of reaching unreached people groups – don’t do it in a rouge fashion. Let’s be coordinated together on this.
Finally, tying his death at the hands of the Sentinelese to “persecution from India” is “spinning” and not reflective of the broader truth – something we as Christians need to call out!

A group that concentrates on Christian persecution says it’s “very worried” about the death of John Chau, a missionary who unlawfully trespassed on a remote island to preach to the residents about Christianity, and desires the tribes-people brought to justice.
to his religion. He broke the law and endangered their lives on his Christian objective. International Christian Concern, a not-for-profit that intends to draw attention towards Christians suffering throughout the world, desires the locals to be charged with murder. A representative for International Christian Concern said:”We here at International Christian Issue are incredibly concerned by the reports of an American missionary being killed in India’s Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
“Our ideas and prayers head out to both John’s friends and family. A complete investigation must be launched in this murder and those responsible must be hauled into court. “Not just does this group call what occurred “murder,”ignoring the reality that they aren’t bound by our laws and were acting out of self-defense, however they go even further by suggesting they can be attempted in our courts. These remote villagers have actually had no contact with the outdoors world, and it is prohibited to take a trip there since it’s hazardous for visitors and residents. In its own press release, International Christian Concern actually tied this occurrence to reported discrimination versus Christians throughout the nation of India. This murder comes at a time when Indian Christians report ever
ICC’s local manager, William Stark, also said brand-new reports of persecution are being documented in India “every day.”
Numerous Christians fear this might be the new regular for their neighborhood as Hindu radicals and others have actually been enabled to attack Christians and other minority neighborhoods with impunity. India needs to take steps to counter the growing wave of intolerance and violence.
To be clear, this case had absolutely nothing to do with “persecution.” As I reported yesterday, it’s well known that the Sentinelese individuals are hostile toward all outsiders. In 2006, two Indian fishermen were likewise killed while illegally travelling to the island. To put it simply, he wasn’t killed since he was a Christian; he was killed due to the fact that he traveled to a prohibited island and threatened the locals.
International Christian Issue acknowledges that Chau traveled there so he could “fulfill with the Sentinelese people to preach Christianity,” yet completely ignores that he did so illegally. The group also stopped working to point out that the people could have passed away from merely being exposed to Chau, instead concentrating on perpetuating the malfunctioning concept that these individuals need to be tried with murder.
What better day than Thanksgiving to threaten the lives of indigenous individuals. This is how genocides start.
