Many of you may have seen our message and posts from last week regarding the horrid situation where children of immigrants who were entering the country through non-official ports of entry were being separated from their parents. These children were detained in separate facilities which some folks actually tried to minimize by stating they were like “summer camp” or “boarding schools.”
Anyways, our community at the LIGHT! here prayed for this and thanks be to the God! Our President, who many would say does not have “caring and empathy” as his strongest trait, actually stepped up and signed an Executive Order to halt this terrible practice (which was contrary to what he and his Secretary of Homeland Security had maintained that only Congress could take action on this.)
Regardless, while the situation is still far from perfect, this is a step in the right direction.
God, will you keep moving to fight for justice and remind our great country that we are “one nation under God with liberty and justice for all” who, as my great-grandparents saw in the Statue of Liberty the incredible welcoming arms voiced by the words:
“Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
