Last Friday the LIGHT! supported the IKE Care Club as they partnered with Saint Benedict’s in downtown Milwaukee (near MATC) to feed the hungry and homeless. The team had a fantastic time. For many, it was the first time they had done such an “act of service.” (As you can guess, though, it definitely won’t be the last time!)
The team worked hard to provide “care” in various capacities:
- serving coffee and drinks
- refilling milk, sauces, condiments
- fulfilling requests for more food
- answering questions (or referring to full-time staff if necessary)
- bussing tables, scraping plates and transporting dirty dishes to the dishwasher
- paying special attention to the children there with treats
- chatting (and encouraging!) the guests
- praying for the guests as appropriate
All in all it was a wonderful experience where the team could feel like they could make a small difference even for one night.
The IKE Care Club was definitely open to doing this again so please watch for future opportunities!
