The 2018 Winter Olympics are kicking off at 8 pm tonight Seoul time (5 am MKE time but we’ll catch the replay =) in Pyeongchang County, Korea. It’s always a great event to see the best in the world compete!
I think it’s interesting to ruminate on the possibilities we have before us. Last year there was all this trash talk between Trump and Kim Jung Un. Now, we have not only a North Korean delegation participating in the Olympics, we actually have a joint Korean team playing women’s hockey together!
There is both good and bad perspectives in this. On the bad side it is unfair to the South Korean team who has to deal with this last minute “political stunt” and perhaps suffer some loss (in the sense of a compromised game with less experienced players, not as much playing time, etc.) On the good side it is an attempt at moving forward (or at least not moving backwards) with a noble goal of unity and re-unification.
While this dream (at least for me) is very far away, it’s not out of the realm of possibility. We have proven the existence theorem in the past (look at the Fall of the Wall in Germany and of the sweeping changes that happened in Russia 30 years ago).
God is a god of peace and love. He is a Trinity who is unified with Himself.
May Korea, some day, experience that same love and unity that God has with Himself!
