“Lord,
Our country is so divided!
We pray for unity to bring us together.
We pray that we would start by finding common ground.
We pray for civility to reemerge and that name-calling would disappear.
We pray for conversations to take place.
We pray for listening and empathy to take place before talking and debate.
We pray that compassion would prevail
We pray that all of us would learn to walk a mile in others shoes.
We pray that we would focus on solutions and on what’s possible.
We pray that we would learn to work together for the greater good of our country.
We pray that those who abuse the system would cease.
We pray for those who have the ability to help.
We pray for those who have the ability to work, to work.
We pray for those that are truly vulnerable – that they would be loved and cared for.
We pray that we would be strong and that we would protect our borders from those with evil intent even as we welcome those who have been persecuted and want to come here to make a better life for themselves and for society.
To quote a great saint:
In the essential things – unity
In the non-essential things – liberty
In all things – charity
God bless America!”
