Rise Against Hunger broke all records this year and was a huge success! As some of you may know the LIGHT! serves as the non-profit sponsor of the IKE Care Club at Eisenhower High School in New Berlin. By partnering with the community to help students grow in their compassion for the world and providing them with opportunities to change it we believe that these experiences develop the next generation to make significant headway in combating the runaway inequality we face today.
Overall we had over 100 students participate and packed 20,088 meals, shattering our goal of 18,000! With 4 sessions (1 set up, 2 packing, 1 clean up) this past Wednesday, everyone had a blast in pulling together in feeding needy children around the world! (Rise Against Hunger will tell us where our food gets sent once it nails the logistics in their warehouse).
Special thanks to Ms. Erica Cook, the faculty sponsor at IKE and to Miguel Campana from Rise Against Hunger who flew up here from Houston all by himself to coordinate all the activity. And, of course, thanks to all the wonderful students at the IKE Care Club who worked tirelessly to prepare, promote, pack and pray for this amazing event!
Looking forward to even more kids fed next year…hope even more of you can join with us!
