Like the rest of our nation we are horrified at the events that took place this week with the shootings in Las Vegas. We pray for our country amid the largest domestic gun massacre ever in our history. May God be with the victims and their families as they struggle to recover and may we be there to support them in that recovery.
This is what communities do. Our country can and should continue to strive towards building that sense of shared community – a community that rises about the divisive and un-civil politics of our day. Here at the LIGHT! labels such as Republican or Democrat are not as important to us as being people who empathize with others, who want to help the “general welfare” of all people as it says in our Constitution so that all may enjoy their rights of “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” as emphatically stated in our amazing Declaration of Independence! Those qualities of empathy, helping, respect and togetherness will only be of help as we tackle our largest problems, such as the Las Vegas shooting as well as Inequality!
Join with us to be caring, compassionate, heart, hands and lips to all who need uplifting when they are down!
It’s what Jesus would do. =)
