What to do about our President? That’s a great question to ask for guidance from God, because, frankly, there are some serious consequences going on here if the latest accusations against President Trump are true.
In the wake of his firing James Comey as FBI director it turns out that Comey had allegedly documented contemporaneous memos of his interactions with our President from Day 1.
Pretty damning memos.
The memo in question indicates that in a meeting with President Trump, Vice-President Pence and another high profile, government leader, the President asked everyone to step outside except for him and Comey.
In that private moment Comey documents that Trump allegedly asked him to pull a “Frozen” and just “let it go”, referencing the FBI investigation into Michael Flynn, Trump’s former Secretary of State who had failed to disclose inappropriate interactions with Russian diplomats.
The problem here is that Trump is the executive responsible for enforcing the law. And, it sure looks like he is using his executive status to direct his underling, Comey, from investigating whether someone previously on the Trump administration (Flynn) had broken any laws.
How does God feel about this?
Well, if true, I’m sure He hates it as He does all wrong-doing. It’s obstruction of justice as some would say, akin to King David sending Uriah to the front lines to die so that he (Uriah) wouldn’t find out that King David had had sex with Uriah’s wife, Bathsheba.
Unfortunately, I don’t think the evidence is strong enough to ignite the Republican majority against their fearless leader. While it looks bad, I don’t think it looks bad enough.
My bet is that President Trump will do just fine and survive this attack just like he has survived so many others.
He is the only man I know who continues to escape the trap his mouth keeps digging for him. Sooner or later, it eventually catches up to all of us, if not in this life, then surely in the next!
