At the LIGHT! we are always at the ready to “speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves,” or even if they do, cannot speak loud enough. That’s why, on this International Women’s Day, we proudly speak loudly on behalf of women everywhere as our good Lord would want us to!
As some of our readers know our fight for more “equality” spans not just income and wealth but also access to opportunity across any dimension, be it race, gender, sexuality, whatever. That is not to say that hard work and smarts shouldn’t lead to a certain amount of differentiation – it’s more that we want the “system” in which we live here in the United States, be a level playing field for all.
Women have long had to fight an uphill battle to improve their opportunities. We salute and support them in this endeavor and will always have women on our Board and on our Staff, not because it’s a numbers game but because it’s best for our leadership team, our congregation and our society at large.
