The Chicago chapter of the LIGHT has done a bit of retooling for the last few months. Keith has finished up the study of the book of John with the original men’s group that he started in 2016. The group agreed it was time to move on and do something else, as there were many conflicting priorities that were keeping the group from meeting regularly. However, a few of the men expressed an interest in getting together and meeting still. So, Keith is meeting regularly with two guys and they are going through a book together, “What He Must Be If He Wants To Marry My Daughter”. We’re off to a good start so far!
Melody’s group is continuing to meet and making headway in their study of the entire Bible. Although they are still in Genesis, the content the group covers is very rich and teaches them a lot about origins and creation. Melody is working with her co-leader on ways to challenge the group to deepen their faith and develop a greater passion for God.
Keith and Melody jointly felt a burden to also reach out to newly married, new parents, and new-to-the area couples who are in their local neighborhood. The intent of the group is to encourage one another in their faith and to have an outlet to share life, joys, struggles, and questions about everything together. The group has met twice and it’s been very uplifting to everyone there. We are going through a book, “Defending Your Marriage”, which is a book about spiritual warfare in the context of marriage.
So we’ve had a lot of activity, but it’s been worthwhile. We are trusting God to plant seeds that will yield good fruit and doing our best to be faithful to share the love and truth of Christ with those around us!
