Another school shooting? Our hearts are saddened and our thoughts and prayers go out to the students, families, faculty and staff at Santa Fe High School in Santa Fe, Texas.
This is unbelievable…or is it? What have we done since the Parkland shooting in Florida? Have we done anything at all?
This time it was .38 pistol and a shotgun that was the weapon. Plus, there were explosives. The shooter was a 17 year old boy who will be tried as an adult.
God, we cry out to you! What can be done to fix this? We must do something!
I’m tired of waiting for President Trump or Congress to do something. They are so slow.
Let us make sure all of our families know Jesus as their Lord and Savior should they die. That way we have the hope to see them in Heaven again.
Let us also make sure that they know the tactics for survival with an active shooter
- Run
- Hide
- Fight
Note that this is very different from the kidnapping tactics for those of you who remember what we taught in Martial Arts Ministry of:
- Yell
- Fight
- Run
where the objective was to NOT get taken away or shoved into a car with a stranger trying to abduct you.
The other thing to keep in mind kind of comes before the situation – you need to:
- Be aware of your surroundings and
- always be in condition YELLOW
Don’t ever be lax and unaware. This doesn’t mean you can’t ever be comfortable but you should do things like:
- Be aware of the people in the room and profile them
- Know where all the exits are
- Study some martial arts so you know how to fight (beyond the scope of my little blog post)
