Adoption is the very image of what God has done for us. From being all alone and left to fend for ourselves amidst evil God brought us into His family if we simply accepted his invitation to become a member, securing the benefits of being a “child” and an “heir” forever and always!
This picture of adoption is especially relevant to the LIGHT! as one of our very own families, Keith and Melody, are undergoing the process of adoption right now. Their future son, Parker, is waiting for them in China right now, even as Keith and Melody eagerly await for the approval from the Chinese government to come and receive him.
Parker is 13 so this is a bit different of an adoption. However, I believe this is a great example of God’s love for us in that, just like God, Keith and Melody love Parker and simply want him as their son no matter how late in life he is. (I can tell you personally that, at least for me, it would be much easier to convince myself to adopt a cute newborn than it would be for a budding teenager so kudos to Keith and Melody for being much better reflectors of God’s love than I could ever be! =)
We’ll write more about Parker in future posts I’m sure. For now, take comfort in the image of God adopting you and all the peace, joy, hope and love that goes with that fact!
