The House of Representatives voted this week to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act.
Hmm, how does that make you feel?
Well, consider the following impact it will have on people
- The elderly can now be charged higher premiums than before
- Those in need will no longer receive as much help in CSRs as they did before (the $8B meant to address this in the new bill does not really match what the CSRs provided before)
- Those with pre-existing conditions still have “access” — if they can afford to pay the huge increases the insurance companies will most surely charge them.
- What were once considered “essential” health benefits have been done away with (e.g. mental illness, kids vision and dental, etc.) and insurance companies will be free to drop these from the previous ACA plans.
I could go on and on but this is truly awful for many, many Americans.
If you’re laid off from your job (but your spouse works but at a place that doesn’t provide insurance)…
If you get sick or hurt…
You’re in deep trouble in this country.
I don’t think this is what our founding fathers had in mind when they penned our constitution that indicated the government was, amongst other things, to support the “general welfare” of our great nation.
This is bad. If you haven’t already been doing so, start praying to God for some intervention.
You might actually need it if you get hit by the turnip truck today.
